Thomas Leavitt

This serene illustration is by artist Thomas Leavitt. Raised in the heat of the suburbs of Phoenix, Arizona and vowing to never take another art class after his first high school experience, Thomas spent his school time devoted to choir, drama, and band. He continued drawing and computer art on his own and with help from his choir teacher, was the first recipient of the Imation Computer Arts Scholarship in 1998. Thomas went on to study animation at Brigham Young University in 2003 where in his junior and senior year he directed two student films; Turtles, which went on to win a Student Academy Award and a Student Emmy in 2006, and then the short film Las Pinatas, which won a Student Emmy and played in the Annecy Film Festival in 2007. Upon graduating, Thomas was hired as a Design and Pre-visualization Artist at Blue Sky Studios where has worked on Horton Hears a Who! and Ice Age 3 and is currently designing for Rio.
