Jeff Biancalana

This exuberant illustration is by Bay Area artist Jeff Biancalana. After studying illustration and animation at San Jose State University, Jeff worked as an assistant animator at Curious Pictures and Wild Brain in San Francisco. Moving on to Mondo Media, he worked as an animator, story artist, director and voice actor for internet shows like The God and Devil Show and Happy Tree Friends. After several years, Jeff returned to SJSU where he had the opportunity to teach and obtain his Masters degree in Art. In 2005, Jeff joined Blue Sky Studios as a story artist on the animated films Horton Hears a Who!, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs and Rio. Moving back to the west coast, he took a short break from animation and lent his skills as a story artist to the live action film, Jonah Hex, which is based on the DC comic of the same name. Jeff has since returned to the world of animation and now works for PDI/DreamWorks in Redwood City, California as a story artist where he has worked on Mega Mind and Madagascar 3. In his spare time, Jeff illustrates stories with his wife and studies Chinese martial arts.
