Catia Chen
This sweet, atmospheric piece titled I Miss You Too, showing a little girl running through the darkness with a love letter in hand, comes from artist Catia Chien. Painting for small picture books and big city galleries in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, Catia illustrated Frank Beddor's Princess Alyss of Wonderland and Dashka Slater’s The Sea Serpent and Me for which she also won the 2008 Society of Illustrators L.A. Gold Medal for Children's Book Work, and as well, was shortlisted for the Cybils Award for fiction picture book. In addition to painting Catia draws comics, and has contributed to the comic anthologies Flight Volume I and II, Put the Book Back on the Shelf, and You Ain't No Dancer. Catia is currently finishing writing and illustrating a tween picture book, editing a comic book anthology inspired by music, and looking forward to working with Chirping Tree, an artists’ collaborative.
